Low back pain (LBP) reaches its peak prevalence in older adults, yet it is frequently mischaracterized as a simple physical or age-related ailment. Despite its substantial burden, older populations remain underrepresented in LBP clinical trials, leaving significant gaps in our understanding and clinical management. This presentation will provide an overview of the multifaceted impact of LBP on older adults. Specifically, it will explore how LBP contributes to psychological distress, frailty, compromised balance control, and even accelerated cognitive decline. By highlighting these interconnected domains and pointing out current research limitations, this talk emphasizes the urgent need for a more holistic, multidimensional approach to evaluating and managing LBP in aging populations.
